Bypass Pumping – PE-Approved Submittals

BEI prepares complete, permit-ready Bypass Pumping Plans (BPP) and Pump-Around Plans (PAP) for sewer rehabilitation, pipeline replacement, and maintenance bypass operations. All plans are PE-sealed and drafted to meet TCEQ, municipal utility district, and public utility purveyor requirements, including SAWS, HCFCD, and municipal sewer standards.

Scope of Services

    • Hydraulic analysis of the existing sewer system: peak flow determination, pipe capacity, and surcharge evaluation

    • Total Dynamic Head (TDH) calculations using Darcy-Weisbach and Hazen-Williams methods

    • Net Positive Suction Head Available (NPSHa) analysis for pump operability verification

    • Pump selection, sizing, and performance curve matching for bypass and pump-around configurations

    • Hose/pipe layout design: routing, fittings, bends, and friction loss modeling (HDPE, HDPE DR17, steel, hose)

    • Inflatable pipe plug design and PE-certified calculations (per TCEQ Spec BP.3.G.7.b and manufacturer specs)

    • Contingency planning: redundant pump capacity, spill prevention, emergency response protocols

    • Plan view schematics, equipment lists, and operational sequencing documents

    • TCEQ review cycle coordination and response to requests for additional information (RFI)

    • Submittals on behalf of dewatering contractors, general contractors, and municipalities

Typical Projects

Sewer Rehabilitation 8–36-inch gravity sewer bypasses during CIPP lining or pipe replacement
Lift Station Bypass Temporary pump-around systems for wet well and force main maintenance
Pipeline Plugging Line isolation for live sewer connections, cut-ins, and flow diversions
Municipal Submittals TCEQ-compliant BPP/PUP packages for public utility purveyors
